Welcome to our website. Ty'n y Wern is a happy, welcoming and inclusive school nestled at the heart of the community of Trethomas, which is situated in Caerphilly County Borough. The school caters for pupils between the ages of 3 to 11 within the catchment area of Trethomas and Lower Graig yr Rhacca and is housed in a traditional stone built Victorian building which offers ample space for both indoor and outdoor learning.

The school is very much at the heart of its community and is one of few school to dates to be awarded the "Heart of the Community" award. Our community Bistro building is used for a variety of events including Mothers and Toddlers, Adult Learning Wales classes and of course the Wednesda afternoon Community Bistro. It also houses uniform and school essentials recycling, a food pantry, book and toy lending libraries. Our dedicated Heddlu Bach run termly themed afternoons for local OAPs. Local football team, Trethomas Bluebirds FC are also very good partners with the school, with both team and school supporting each other wherever possible.

Our curriculum is very exciting and is committed to ensuring the best teaching and learning opportunities for all pupils. We value the importance of giving our pupils rich learning experiences with our Pupil Passport at the heart of this. Last year we made sure that every child learnt to ride a bike as a result of pupil voice discussions. We are a very busy school with lots of exciting things planned which is why we actively encourage families to sign up to our many communication platforms!
